The First Solarize Portland project - UPDATES
WOW! Enrollment in the first Solarize Portland project closed on September 15, 2009 with over 300 homeowners! An amazing turnout. Portland is thirsty for solar.
Those who enrolled in this project are receiving site assessments and having their systems installed by the contractor (Imagine Energy). Installs for current participants are expected to carry over into the first few months of 2010. We are not enrolling any new participants in this project. With participation where it is, we are receiving the most discounted bulk-purchase rate the contractor offered = $6,800 per kW, which is a 25% discount over the average kW price being paid in Portland in 2009. And this is before incentives and tax credits, which shave off another 80%.
If you are a member of the First Graduating Class (this means you joined the Solarize Portland project that ran summer 2009) and have TECHNICAL QUESTIONS about the solar electric systems, how they perform, what the installation process will look like, what products the group is buying, etc -- these questions should be directed to the good folks at Imagine Energy (the project contractor). Contact: 503-477-9585 or email info@imagineenergy.net
If you are a member of the First Graduating Class and need to talk to Tim O'Neal you can contact him at SE Uplift. Call: 503.232.0010 x313 or email Tim.
The Mt. Tabor Neighborhood Association Land Use Committee contact for the Solarize Portland project is Stephanie Stewart, the MTNA Land Use Co-Chair.
